Absolute Black Leathered Granite Maintenance. I got new kitchen counters granite with a leathered finish about a year and 9 months ago they have developed areas of discoloration with several areas much lighter than the surrounding. Granite comes in various finishes including polished leathered and honed just to name a few. In more recent years matte countertops particularly absolute black have been gaining much attention just because of the sheer sophistication they bring to any room.
Well day 1 oil stain on island and marks appearing on the perimeter counters. When they installed the countertops the fabricator installer wiped them down with acetone and then sealed them.

It does clean well but the dull spots etc still won t go. Absolute black granite typically does not need sealing since it is so dense.
