We have ants in the kitchen i think it started because our cats got a little messy with their food bowls. Ants will only go where there are resources.
They nest under carpets and in wall cracks.
They give off a rotten coconut like smell. It is not common for ants to make nests under the carpet and they only do it in cases when the flooring or the foundation is decaying. Sprinkle boric acid powder all over the carpet and allow to remain on the carpet for one hour then vaccuum. It took me a while to come up with ways to deal with these pesky little critters and i had to check the internet for ideas too.
